NETWORKING FAQS

Does SecuraStock need only out-going internet?

Technically, all communications are bidirectional. (ex. I say hi, you say hi back. The same is true for the internet

communications).

SecuraStock initiates outbound connections to our servers. We don't attempt to make inbound connections to the machines, so there is no worry about exposing machine ports or routing from outside back into the machine.

More simply, our machine will reach out to our servers to push and pull data.

Is there a static IP address for your server?

We do not recommend using a static IP address for our cloud server. Instead, use the DNS address:

access.securastock.com.

Can you clarify if the devices will need to send only email updates or if they push data to your servers directly?

The devices send emails and push data.

Are these UDP or TCP ports?

These are TCP ports.

What transport method is used to contact the servers directly?

Transports are done over a few mechanisms, including SSH and an HTTP-based API.

What is the expected data load?

The data load varies greatly depending on the number of transactions, whether videos are being synced, etc. It can be tens of GB per month for active machines.

Are the devices able to be polled by SNMP?

We do not support SNMP at this time.
